An e-Credit Note is issued when the value of an invoice needs to be reduced or adjusted after the invoice has already been generated.

It helps adjust the invoice amount and GST correctly, ensuring proper GST compliance.

If an e-Invoice has already been generated and reported to the Invoice Registration Portal (IRP), the cancellation rules are:

  • Within 24 hours
You can cancel the E-Invoice directly on the IRP.

  • After 24 hours
The e-Invoice cannot be cancelled. If any correction or reduction in the invoice value is required, you must generate an e-Credit Note.

Note:

An e-Credit Note is not generated automatically.

If an e-Invoice has already been generated for an order, and later the order status in Shopify changes to Cancelled, Refunded, or Partially Refunded, You need to update the status in our app accordingly. After that, the system will show that order on the e-Credit Note listing page.

From there, you will see a “Generate e-Credit Note” button. By clicking this button, you can manually generate the e-Credit Note for that order.
