This guide explains how to use Speedboostr to manage image alt tags for various images on your Shopify store, including product, collection, blog, and other images.

  1. Access SEO Audit Menu:

Locate the menu option labelled "SEO Audit" or similar within the Speedboostr app.

  2. Image Alt Tags Menu:

Within the SEO Audit section, you should find a menu button labeled "Image Alt Tags" or similar. Click on this button.

  3. Page-Specific Sections:

Upon clicking "Image Alt Tags," you'll see separate sections for different image categories:

    • Product Images: Here, you can manage the alt tags for your product images.

    • Collection Pages: This section allows you to configure alt tags for images associated with your product collections.

    • Blog Images: You'll likely find options to set up alt tags for images within your blog posts.

    • Other Images: This section might encompass alt tags for any other images on your store that don't fall into the above categories.

  4. Setting Up Alt Tags:

Within each image section, you'll find text boxes where you can select available tags for alt text for the corresponding images.

    • Image Alt Text: This text describes the content of the image and is crucial for accessibility and SEO. It should be concise and relevant to the image's content.

  5. Dynamic Variables:

Speedboostr offer the ability to utilize dynamic variables within your alt tags. These variables automatically insert specific details about the product, collection, blog post, or store:

Examples of Dynamic Variables: Product Title, Product Type, Product Vendor, Product Tags, Collection Title, Shop Domain, Shop Country, Blog Article Title, Article Author, etc.

Using Dynamic Variables: By incorporating these variables, you can create more generic alt tag templates that automatically populate with relevant information for each image.

  6. Overwrite Option:

You might see an option labeled "Overwrite" or similar next to the text boxes. This checkbox determines how Speedboostr handles existing alt tags:

Overwrite Checkbox Enabled: If checked, any existing alt text for an image will be replaced with the value you enter in Speedboostr.

Overwrite Checkbox Disabled: Leaving it unchecked allows Speedboostr to leave your existing alt tags intact, using the values you provide only if there are none currently set.

  7. Run Image Alt Optimizer:

Once you've configured your desired alt tags and overwrite settings, you'll find a button labelled "Run Image Alt Optimizer". Click this button to initiate the process of updating your image alt tags based on your configuration.

Important Notes:

  • Well-crafted alt tags improve accessibility for visually impaired users and can enhance SEO by providing search engines with additional context about your images.
  • Utilize dynamic variables strategically to streamline the alt tag creation process while maintaining relevance.
